Quality Assurance Technician

The role of the Quality Assurance Technician is to ensure overall execution of the Quality System for the turkey business unit in the USA.  This position is located in Beresford, South Dakota and encompasses the Turkey Unit Business throughout the USA.  This is achieved through the effective execution of the established quality program, audits, process improvements, documentation and all other required elements.  As well, this position is responsible for ongoing development and program enhancements that will ensure highest possible in quality standards, customer satisfaction and process improvements.  This position is based at our new commercial hatchery and will focus on ensuring poult quality from this facility as well as poult quality alignment with partnered hatcheries.

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • Poult quality focused, including alignment of poult quality across multiple hatcheries
  • Overall management of the Quality System (SOPs, records, audits, compliance with mandatory programs) to ensure highest quality for our company product, services & processes
  • Coordination, tracking and complete follow through of customer complaints/cases
  • Customer satisfaction and corrective action for identified actions
  • Liaison with quality personnel of partnered hatcheries for poult quality alignment, using common criteria for egg & poult quality expectations
  • Work collaboratively with farm sites (both internal/company operated facilities as well as contracted sites)
  • Administration of all Quality documentation and processes
  • Development, execution and enhancements to Quality programs
  • Execution of the mandatory and compliance type programs such as NPIP biosecurity principles, sustainability initiatives, etc
  • Leading audit process (internal & external) for all identified and required programs
  • Work together with operation group on quality concerns to ensure resolution and improvement
  • Reporting on Quality indictors (KPIs)
  • Some travel within USA and some limited travel to Canada
  • Continuous knowledge & understanding of quality trends, practices and regulations
  • Part of the global Quality Team for Turkeys BU 
  • Job is structured with approximately 50% administration/office work and approximately 50% facilities

Your profile

  • Experience in animal production in a hatchery and / or poultry farm
  • Previous exposure and experience with Quality Management systems (documentation, execution, auditing, etc)
  • Post-secondary education (college/university) combined with some work experience focused on animal production and quality management
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Ability to relate to people on all levels
  • Above average documentation & writing skills
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving
  • Knowledge and interest in agriculture and / or animal production
