This is an internship for students enrolled in a MSc program who are interested in conducting research in a company environment. You will be working at the Research & Technology centre of Hendrix Genetics which is located in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
Unprecedented quantities of genotypic marker data have emerged on our animal species, in particular on swine, layers and turkeys. Adding these data to pedigree and phenotypic traits data has already boosted the accuracy of breeding values of our selection candidates. To our clients the performance of crossbred individuals is key, and our academic partners have developed novel approaches to better capitalize on crossbred performance. This project will provide us the answer to the following question: How do these novel approaches perform in practice and what is their added value in our breeding programs?
